Delivering innovative product and service solutions to the absorbent hygiene, aerospace and manufacturing industries since 1985

With locations in U.S. and Germany, Innovent is a leading global supplier of high performance honeycomb core products with over 30 years of proven experience. We specialize in fabricating, designing, and integrating high temperature honeycomb assemblies, mainly stainless steel and titanium, for a variety of applications where high strength, light weight, and open area are needed. Working closely with the leading companies in their fields, Innovent creates solutions for a diverse array of end uses for the disposable hygiene, A&D, and industrial markets.

Specializing in the Absorbent Hygiene, Aerospace, and Industrial/Medical Industries, Innovent offers specialized products and services that serve a unique need in each category.

Core Forming

Innovent is a global supplier of high performance core formation tooling & equipment in the disposable hygiene market that delivers material savings, improved up-time, and lower maintenance.

We leverage deep relationships with global industry leaders and our specialized expertise in core forming & tool design to support on-going customer innovation while optimizing their equipment for high speed production.

The production of disposable hygiene products (Baby Diapers, Adult Incontinence Briefs, Feminine Hygiene Pads, etc.) begins with fiberized cellulose (wood pulp) conveyed in an air stream. Super absorbent particles are mixed into the air stream and the blend is pulled via a vacuum fan onto a rotating drum where the solids and air are separated by a permeable screen.

Aerospace Vents

For various reasons related to EMF (electromagnetic Field) shielding, it is desirable to cover inlet and exhausts in aircraft with a mesh structure.

Honeycomb affords very high open area (85%-95%) and can be relatively damage tolerant vs. other materials. Most often these vents are stainless steel which exhibits good strength and temperature characteristics. While several times more expensive than expanded aluminum core it, is the lowest high temperature core option available. Alternatively, Titanium can be used when weight is a prime consideration or alloys such as Hastelloy can be employed for even higher temperature conditions.

Honeycomb Structures

Honeycomb has uses as flow straighteners, flame arrestors, and catalytic converter substrates. Often these components can be made by “spiral wrapping” a corrugated foil and straight foil around a central mandrel. This process is particularly suited to automation with the potential to make parts in minutes.

  • Manually assembled (tack welded) high temperature alloy honeycomb (Stainless, Titanium, etc)
  • Cell sizes from 1/32″ to 3/4″ (0.79mm to 19.05mm), aspect ratio of 4 ideal but up to 16 possible, between 3″ – 6″ (75mm to 150mm), depending on tooling
  • Small sizes less than 1 ft2 (300mm2)
  • Angle cell 0° to 60°
  • Robot tack welder in Germany, limited automation
  • Spiral wrap 1/16″ to 1/2″ (1.5mm to 12mm) cell up to 4″ (100mm) deep, 1/2″ (12mm) diameter and up
  • 20+ years’ experience brazing honeycomb into assemblies
  • High quality/accuracy machining of honeycomb
